ASID CELEBRATES 2025 NATIONAL AWARD WINNERS

(August 18, 2025 – Atlanta, Ga.) – The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has announced the recipients of the 2025 National Awards, the Society’s highest professional recognition. The program is presented across three categories: the Annual Awards, the Legacy Awards, and the FOCUS Project Awards. From projects that champion wellness and sustainability to individual practitioners shaping the future of design, this year’s honorees represent the best of the interior design community. 

“ASID’s National Awards honor the individuals and projects that illuminate the transformative impact of design,” said Khoi Vo, chief executive officer, ASID. “This year’s honorees — from trailblazing practitioners to community-focused projects — demonstrate how thoughtful, inclusive design can inspire well-being, equity, and innovation. We are proud to elevate the stories of these award winners and fuel continued excellence across our profession.” 

The Annual Awards celebrate the work and accomplishments of practitioners with outstanding design achievements throughout the year, honoring educators, students, volunteers, advocates and more. This year’s Annual Awards recipients are: 

  • Chapter of the Year | ASID California Peninsula Chapter 
  • Student of the Year | Gemma Cullen, ASID Student 
  • Advocate of the Year | Dana Nunn, FASID 
  • Volunteer of the Year | Lauren McDonald Stewart, FASID 
  • Educator of the Year | Becca Terpstra, ASID Educator 
  • Community Impact of the Year | Humble Design 
  • Firm of the Year | Pamela Hope Designs 
  • Designer of the Year | Dina Lamanna, ASID 

The Legacy Awards honor individuals, organizations and teams who have demonstrated innovation and pioneered new paths within the design world. The 2025 Legacy Awards winners are:  

  • Steward of Distinction | Debra Levin, Hon. FASID 
  • Luminary of Distinction | Kay Sargent, FASID 
  • Firm of Distinction | ICRAVE | Journey 
  • Designer of Distinction | Tim Schelfe, FASID 

The FOCUS Project Awards spotlight the work of firms advancing the core values of the design profession through built projects. Each award honors a different facet of design excellence: wellness, community, sustainability and diversity. This year’s FOCUS recipients are:

  • FOCUS Wellness – Medium Firm Winner | Denali Tower Office by Bettisworth North Architects and Planners

  • FOCUS Community – Medium Firm Winner | Greater Chicago Food Depository by Partners by Design 
  • FOCUS Community – Large Firm Winner | Whitman-Walker Health, Max Robinson Center by Perkins&Will 
  • FOCUS Community – Large Firm Merit Recipient | Marvin Headquarters by HGA

Award recipients were recognized during GATHER 2025, ASID’s national conference, held Aug. 17-19 in Atlanta. The ASID 50 Awards, Annual Awards and Legacy Awards were presented during the “Cheers to Excellence” Awards Reception and Anniversary Toast, while the FOCUS Project Awards were announced during the Opening Keynote and State of Society Session. 

To commemorate ASID’s 50th anniversary this year, the Society introduced a special honor – the ASID 50 Award – recognizing 50 individuals with lasting contributions to the profession across the past decades. The full list of honorees is available at https://www.asid.org/asid50awards
